If you have been making wine in the New World for one, or even two hundred years, you are venerated. Septima has only been in Argentina for a relative handful of years, but their parent company, Codorniu of Spain has been in the wine business for almost 500 years. As one of the pioneers of Cava it is only fitting that Codorniu would turn their attention to the thriving Espumante scene in Mendoza.
Septima goes well beyond bubbles, offering a complete line of varietals at several levels of quality. Each of their wines represents an expression of Argentina, tempered by their experience in Europe.
Septima also inherited a tradition of food from the homeland. The excellent Maria Restaurant serves foods rarely seen in the region. They may be the only restaurant in Mendoza to even think of putting fried capers on their carpaccio.
The food is as fresh and delicious as the wines, and the view from the terrace is breathtaking. It may be one of the world’s best excuses for opening a bottle of sparkling wine. As if anyone needs an excuse.
